I’m Mariah. I spend a lot of time creating carefully arranged interiors, only to put a panther in the middle of them and undo some of that order. 

That tension is something I keep coming back to: control versus instinct, and the difference between the lives we carefully arrange for ourselves and the parts of us that are a little less interested in sticking to the plan. 

I’m a Dutch contemporary artist, mostly working in painting. Colour, architecture and interiors make up the world around the panthers and leopards that have been showing up in my work for years. 

My work has been exhibited and collected internationally. I paint from my studio in the Netherlands, creating original works and, every now and then, a commissioned piece.
